
The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened a criminal case on corruption and influence peddling among officials of the Republican Endocrinology Center (REC). As Report informs, this was stated in a joint statement by the Prosecutor General’s Office and TƏBİB.
The investigation was launched by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office based on the information received. The operational and investigative activities carried out established that a number of REC officials, taking advantage of their positions, illegally influenced the decisions of other officials.
In addition, having abused their official powers, they demanded money in various amounts for registering people with diabetes, providing them with various medications, and other services, the statement says.
Based on the collected primary evidence, a criminal case was opened under Articles 308.1 (abuse of office) and 312-1.1 (illegal influence on the decision of an official) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Currently, measures are underway to identify and bring to justice all those involved in these crimes, the departments said in a statement.
