The final trial was held in the criminal case of former head of Shusha city department of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription for Military Service Colonel Seymur Gurbanov, oxu.az reports. The Baku Military Court, chaired by Judge Zaur Hajiyev, read out the verdict, according to which S. Gurbanov was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment.

It should be noted that in the criminal case investigated by the Investigation Department of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, former head of the Shusha city department of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription for Military Service Colonel Seymur Gurbanov was charged under Articles 178.2.2 (repeated fraud), 178.2.3 (fraud committed by a person using his official position), 178.2.4 (fraud committed with causing significant damage) and 311.3.2 (repeated acceptance of bribes) and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against him by the decision of the Baku Military Court.

An attempt to import a large consignment of drugs into the territory of Azerbaijan has been prevented, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press center of the State Border Service (SBS). As a result of operational activities carried out on the service territory of the Horadiz border detachment, an attempt to import a large consignment of drugs from Iran into the territory of Azerbaijan was prevented, and one person was detained.

Thus, on March 18, a resident of the city of Baku, Fuad Vakhidov (born in 1995), was detained, who tried to import 6 kg 670 g of marijuana into the country. And on March 25, as a result of operational activities, another 10 kg 600 g of marijuana was discovered and confiscated from the place of service.

Investigative and operational activities are ongoing on these facts.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has released details of an operation carried out today at the Agency for Agricultural Services under the Ministry of Agriculture, Report informs, citing the supervisory authority. According to the information, as a result of the operation, Deputy Head of the State Technical Control Department of the Agency Rashad Yolchiev and Head of the Technical Control Organization Sector of the State Center for Agricultural Development No. 1 Arif Gasanov were taken into custody.

According to the investigation, in 2022-2025, officials entered into a criminal conspiracy to receive large bribes from numerous individuals for registering agricultural and other special equipment imported into the country, issuing state registration plates, conducting technical inspections, providing relevant certificates and other services.

Important material evidence was seized during searches in the offices of Yolchiev and Gasanov. The officials were charged under Articles 311.3.1, 311.3.2 and 311.3.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (receiving a large bribe by a group of persons by prior agreement). By decision of the Binagadi District Court, a preventive measure in the form of house arrest with removal from office was chosen for them. The investigation is ongoing.

The preliminary investigation period in the criminal case of Lieutenant Colonel Gahraman Mammadov, who was detained while transporting 70 kg of gold bars from the airport of Istanbul, Turkey, to a hotel, has been extended due to the scale of the investigation.

As reported by Oxu.Az with reference to Qafqazinfo, the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan filed a petition to the court to extend the arrest period for additional investigative measures.

The court granted the petition, taking into account the volume of procedural actions carried out within the framework of mutual legal assistance with law enforcement agencies of Turkey, as well as the need to establish additional circumstances in the case. As a result, the period of detention of G. Mammadov was extended for another three months.
