
The court investigation of the criminal case of the editor-in-chief of the Ideal newspaper Nazim Guliyev has been completed, Oxu.Az reports. At the trial chaired by the judge of the Baku Grave Crimes Court Javid Huseynov, the prosecutor made an indictment speech and proposed the court to sentence Nazim Guliyev to 9 years and 6 months in prison.
Nazim Guliyev was detained by the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and brought to criminal responsibility. He was charged under Article 178.2.4 (fraud causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Later, he was also charged under Article 182.2.4 (extortion for the purpose of seizing property in a significant amount) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The court sentenced Nazim Guliyev to 8 years in prison.
