
The trial of Urfan Guliyev, accused of organizing illegal gambling and tax evasion, has ended. As APA reports, the verdict was announced today at the Baku Grave Crimes Court chaired by Judge Leyla Askerova-Mammadova.
According to the verdict, the accused was acquitted on both charges and sentenced to 1 year, 10 months and 10 days in prison. This term was replaced by house arrest. At the previous trial, the state prosecutor requested 10 years in prison for the accused.
According to the indictment, Guliyev Urfan Ilgar oglu organized illegal gambling and online betting in Baku. The indictment states that at the time of the inspection, the turnover of the betting he organized exceeded 29 million manats. He was accused of receiving illegal income in the amount of more than 3 million manat and tax evasion in the amount of more than 1.7 million manat.
U. Guliyev was charged under Articles 193-1.3.2 (legalization of funds obtained by criminal means in a large amount, committed by an organized group), 213.3 (tax evasion in an especially large amount) and 244-1.4 (organization or conduct of gambling with the receipt of income in an especially large amount) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
