Law enforcement bodies neutralizes radical group

Azerbaijan’s law enforcement bodies and prosecuting agencies have neutralized one more organized group suspected of committing several grave crimes in the country, APA reports.

On 24 November 2014, a person was found dead with gunshot wounds in the house of Vahid Vahabov, resident of Gabala town, and the district prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case on the fact under the relevant.

A group of law-enforcement and prosecuting officers arrived at the site, urgent investigative measures were taken and relevant examinations conducted.

The investigation revealed that Joshgun Karimbeyli told ex-inmates – Nuraddin Khalilov, Mushfig Mikayilov, Rashad Hashimli and Ahmad Karimov, who are members of radical groups, that his neighbor Vahid Vahabov is a wealthy man. They beforehand entered into a criminal conspiracy to attack Vahabov’s house and seize a great deal of cash and jewelry. 

On the abovementioned date, the member of the group left for Gabala by the automobile, which they stole, wore a mask, invaded Vahid Vahabov’s house, killed him and injured his wife at about 04.00 a.m.

As a result of search operations, members of criminal group Nuraddin Khalilov, Mushfig Mikayilov, Zaur Aliyev and Parviz Shikhaliyev have been arrested. 4 grenades, Winchester rifle, Revolver pistol, over 40 bullets, 25 grams of heroin, 21 illegal religious books, 1 internet modem, 1 axe, 1 hatchet, 1 sport cap designed to serve as a mask, primitive iron pipes, pistol and other things intended to be used as a cold steel have been taken from them and their house.

Investigative and operational measures carried out against the detainees discovered that on 18 March and 18 July 2014 the group members raided the homes of Gunduz Jafarov and Majnun Dunyamaliyev for the purpose of robbery, seizing a total of AZN 6,400 and a great deal of golden jewelry and household items. On August 18, they inflicted injuries on two sisters – Khayal Ahmadova and Hilal Bijanova. On 31 January and 14 February 2015, they hijacked two VAZ-2106 cars owned by Sumgayit city residents Bayram Aliyev and Tahir Jabrayilzade. On February 16, the criminals stole golden jewelry, clothes and household items as well as one shotgun from the home of Aghdash city resident Niyazi Azizov.

The investigations also found out that the group members have deliberately destroyed their national ID cards.

Search operations and investigative measures find and arrest other members of the gang are underway.
