Prosecutor’s General office on corruption crimes
Corruption-related crimes have caused damage valued at more than AZN 200 million to the Azerbaijani state over the last decade, APA reports with reference to
Kamran Aliyev, Chief of the Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General, made the remarks on Wednesday during a press conference dedicated to the results of the first quarter of 2015.
According to the department chief, since the day it was established, the Anti-Corruption Department have submitted to courts a total of 1,025 criminal cases against 1,781 officials. Among them, 68 were charged with bribery, 133 with abuse of official powers, 449 with plundering by abusing official position. All these crimes cost to the state more than AZN 200 million. In order to compensate for the damage caused to the state budget, properties worth AZN 173 million were seized. The state budget was paid AZN 122 million.
