Detained on suspicion of murdering journalist R. Aliyev

Several persons have been detained on suspicion of murdering journalist Rasim Aliyev, law-enforcement bodies told APA.

According to the information obtained by agency, the persons detained being suspected regarding the incident will be sentenced today to pretrial detention by the decision of the court. Football player Javid Huseynov’s cousin Elshan Ismayiolov is among the detainees as well. The identity of the detainees is not publicized.

Law-enforcement bodies told APA that footage of security cameras in the scene was submitted to investigation. Besides, R.Aliyev’s phone calls were investigated and eyewitnesses, relatives of the deceased, and the doctors who examined him were questioned.

The General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will issue an official statement in the coming hours.

Rasim Aliyev Mammadali, born in 1984, was beaten on Aug.8 in Sabail district and taken to the Clinic Medical Center with multiple bodily injuries. He died there on August 9, 2015.

The Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office filed a criminal case on the fact under the Article 126.3 (deliberate causing of serious harm to health, imprudence entailed to death of a victim) of the Criminal Code.  An investigative-operational group was created consisting of officers of City Prosecutor’s Office and Main Police Office.
