State Border Service: on detained border offenders

In October 2015, the Azerbaijani State Border Service (SBS) detained 35 people – 27 Azerbaijani, three Nigerian, two Iranian, one Turkish, one Cameroonian, and one Ivory Cost citizens – in 34 cases for violating the state border, the State Border Service told APA.

Violating the border, two people in two cases in the green line and 26 people in 14 cases in the Caspian Sea were detained and taken relevant measures against.

In a series of countering crime actions, 328 people wanted by Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to concerned agencies.

As a result measures against illicit drug trafficking, over 6 kg of drugs were in 10 cases prevented from being passed on through the state border.

As a result of measures taken in the fight against smuggling, a total of smuggled goods worth AZN 245,000 in 44 smuggling cases were seized. That includes AZN 1,662, USD 1380, 900 pyrotechnical substance, one rifle, one pneumatic gun, one motorcycle, 7 boat, 2,146 boxes of cigarettes, 269 mobile phones, 30 cattle, and a variety of food and industrial goods were detained.
