Man detained for aiding Wahhabis to cross border
A man has been detained for helping several people, believed to be an adherent of the Wahhabi sect, cross from Azerbaijan into Georgia.
Police received information of several Wahhabi adherents having illegally crossed the Azerbaijan-Georgia border from the territory of Balaken district, law enforcement agencies told APA.
As a result of an operation conducted based on the information, Elman Mirzebeyov (1985), a resident of Zagatala’s Aliabad viliage, has been detained and found guilty of helping the Wahhabis cross the border. During the detention, an AK-74 automatic rifle, a charger and 13 bullets were found and seized from him. Elman has been handed over to the Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.
