Appeal of sportsmen beaten a security guard dismissed

A preventive measure in the form of 30-day administrative arrest has been chosen against two sportsmen who were detained on suspicion of beating a security guard of a filling station in Baku, APA reports.

The accused filed an appeal against the court decision. On January 28, 2016 the appeal was dismissed by court.

According to an Interior Ministry spokesman, at about 4:00pm Jan.25, a brawl erupted between two customers of a filling station in Baku’s Tbilisi avenue and a security guard of the station. Then the two men who are said to be sportsmen fled the scene after beating the security guard.   

As a result of police operations, two men – Mahir Isgandarov and Isa Azizov who are suspected of beating security Sadig Baghirov, guard of the filling station, were detained.

Isa Azizov is a relative of Lt Gen Maharram Aliyev, head of the Department of defense issues in the Service of the Assistant to the Azerbaijani President on Defense issues.
