Detained band of cyber criminals

In course of special operation conducted by Azerbaijani Interior Ministry’s Main Department for Combating Organized Crime, Azerbaijani citizen Rufat Gudratli, Turkish citizen Mesut Uzunoz and Georgian citizen Babek Garibov have been detained on charges of cyber crimes.

According to press-service of the ministry, investigation made it clear that they have created the fake website ucuzsepet.com upon the order of Yasar Baran, an affiliate of theirs who lives in Turkey, haqqin.az reports

The group managed to hack the bank accounts of 74 customers in Turkey who had done online shopping on the website, and transferred all the funds in those accounts to their own bank accounts in Azerbaijan. After withdrawing the funds, they had sent them back to Turkey.

There is estimated that the cyber criminals have caused AZN 54,732 damage to their victims.

The investigation into the fact is ongoing.
