Former Azerbaijani SSAC spokesman declared wanted
Former spokesman for Azerbaijan’s State Students Admission Commission (SSAC) Elnur Naghizade has been declared wanted.
Spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Eldar Sultanov told APA that Elnur Naghizade has been sentenced to pre-trial detention as an accused person and declared wanted. Necessary investigation and search operations are underway to arrest him and bring to justice.
It was reported a few days ago that Baku residents Vusal Ibrahimov and Zaur Asgarov appealed to law enforcement authorities that they gave $150,000 to Elnur Naghizade in August 2015 in order to get a job. They noted that they were not provided with work and they couldn’t get their money back. Law enforcement bodies are investigating the case.
A few weeks ago, SSAC Chairwoman Maleyka Abbaszade stated that two citizens appealed to the SSAC regarding Elnur Naghizade: “We conducted an internal investigation into complaints filed in January this year by two citizens about illegal activities of Elnur Naghizade. All documents were sent to the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General. The SSAC is interested in the issues related to Nagizade’s illegal activities being investigation.”
The Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General launched a criminal case based on the complaints against Elnur Naghizade under the Articles 178.3.2 (Swindle), 308.1 (Abusing official powers), and 320.1 (Fake, manufacturing or selling of official documents, state awards, seals, stamps, forms or use of counterfeit documents) and investigation is underway.
