Foreign citizens detained for illegally carrying arms

A group of Iranian citizens and an Azerbaijani citizen were detained in an operation conducted by the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry’s Main Department for Combating Drug Trafficking in the country’s Jalilabad district, APA reports with reference to Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Iranian citizens – formerly imprisoned Farhangi Marahmad and Rahim Faraji as well as a resident of Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad district Jabir Kazimov, attempted to show armed resistance against police but were neutralized.  

During the inspection, police found and seized from them 5 kg of heroin, a Kalashnikov automatic rifle with 28 cartridges, a Torun shotgun with 5 bullets inside, night vision goggles, and other items.

During the interrogation, Farhangi Marahmad and Rahim Faraji admitted to having brought the drugs in order to sell it to Jabir Kazimov.

The fact is under investigation. A criminal case has been initiated.
