Criminal cases on officials
Azerbaijan completed the investigation of 100 criminal cases on 143 officials in the first half of 2016, the chief of the Anti-Corruption Department under General Prosecutor, Kamran Aliyev, told APA on 15 July, 2016.
He said that among these criminal cases, 25 cases of misappropriation and embezzlement were opened against 48 persons, 27 cases of fraud by abusing power against 30 persons, 17 cases of abuse of official powers against 25 persons, 7 cases of taking bribe against 7 persons, 4 cases of offering bribe against 7 persons, 2 cases of misappropriation of official authority against 3 persons, 1 case of forgery against 2 persons, 17 cases of others against 21 persons.
Based on the cases submitted to courts, AZN 3,151,000 (32,2%) of the damage that amounts to AZN 9,785,000 was paid during the investigation. Necessary actions were taken for the rest of the damage caused to be paid for.
