Verdict to religious radicals
On August 1, 2016 the Baku Court of Grave Crimes passed sentence in the case of 17 members of the radical religious group, accused in murdering of a businessman from Gabala Vahid Vakhabov, haqqin.az reports.
The court sentenced Nureddin Khalilov to life imprisonment, Rashad Gashimli, Mushfig Mikailov, Akhmed Kerimov, Joshgun Kərimbəyli, Bahadur Mammadov, Fakhri Shirinzade – to 20 years in prison each, Zaur Aliyev and Rufis Baimov – to 18 years, Parviz Shikhaliyev Rashad Safaralieva, Samir Mammadov, Niyamaddin Khalilov – 16 years, Khalil Mammadov – to 15 years, Jeyhun Abdullayev and Anar Rzayev – to 14 years, Ilgar Musayev – to 13 and a half years imprisonment.
The body of the entrepreneur from Gabala Vahid Vakhabov was discovered in November 2015, in connection with which the District Prosecutor’s office instituted criminal proceedings under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The investigation revealed that the neighbour of Vakhabov, Joshgun Kərimbəyli told his accomplices – members of the radical religious group – previously convicted N. Khalilov, M. Mikailova, A. Kerimov and R. Gashimli that Vahid Vakhabov – a rich businessman. The members of the group decided to carry out an attack on the house Vakhabov and assign money and valuables in a large amount.
November 24, they arrived in a stolen car in Gabala broke Vakhabov night in the apartment and shot him and his wife had inflicted various injuries.
In course of search operations, some members of the gang – N. Khalilov, M. Mikayilov, Z. Aliyev, P. Shikhaliyev were arrested.
As a result of a search in their flats there were found four grenades, a rifle “Winchester”, a revolver, 40 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 25 grams of heroin, banned religious literature, the gun.
