Court declines to consider case of former OMON members

Azerbaijan’s Garadagh district court on 8 September 2016 refused to consider the case of former OMON (special purpose police units) members Elchin Amiraslanov, Arif Kazimov and Safa Poladov.

 An appeal will be filed against this decision, a lawyer E. Sadigov told APA.

All the three OMON members were sentenced to death in 1996. Later their capital punishment was commuted to life in prison. They appealed to the Garadagh district court for their lifetime sentence to be replaced with 20 years in prison.
