Baku court resumes trial of defendants in case over deadly high-rise fire
On 20 December 2016 Baku Court of Grave Crimes continued the trial of those who are accused in the criminal case initiated over a deadly fire that occurred in a high-rise in Baku last year, haqqin.az reports.
A public prosecutor said the defendants were proven guilty during the judicial investigation.
The prosecutor demanded 10-year imprisonment for Miryusif Mahmudov, founder of Global Stone LLC and Global Construction LLC, that constructed the building’s façade with low-quality cladding materials; 7-year imprisonment for Gazanfar Novruzov, former deputy head of Binagadi district executive power; 8-year imprisonment for Ugur Bashirov, general manager of Global Stone LLC; 7-year imprisonment for Adalat Rajabov, former head of housing and communal services of Binagadi district; 5-year imprisonment for head of Nizami Orujov, Binagadi district housing and public utility; Aghajavad Mammadov, chief of testing laboratory of ‘Dernegul Boru Zavodu’ Closed Joint Stock Company and Akif Alibayov, director general of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health.
The hearing will be resumed on December 29, 2016.
