Azerbaijan eliminated 9 extremists and arrested 4 for the past six months
Nine extremists have been killed and four more arrested in Azerbaijan over the past six months, said Suad Mahmudov, an official of the country’s State Security Service.
He made the remarks addressing a conference on the theme “The role of youth in the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism,” held in Baku March 3, 2017, APA reported.
“From 2012 on, some Azerbaijani citizens began to go to Turkey under the pretext of looking for a job. Then they crossed illegally the Syrian territory in order to join various terrorist groups,” said Mahmudov, noting that most of these people chose to join ISIL terrorist organization in Syria.
