Detained for commission of illegal actions

In March 2017, 53 people were detained for violating the state border.

APA reports with reference to the press center of the State Border Service (SBS) that the following persons who violated the state border  were  19 citizens of Azerbaijan, 6 citizens of Uzbekistan, 5 citizens of Tajikistan, 5 citizens of Pakistan, 3 citizens of Georgia, 3 citizens of Nigeria, 2 citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, 2 citizens of Venezuela, 2 citizens of Kyrgyzstan, as well as 1 citizen of Ghana, Turkey, Great Britain, Greece, Sri Lanka. For violation of the state border regime in 654 cases of violations, 811 individuals were detained.

In the course of measures to combat crime, 426 people wanted by law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan were detained and handed over to the relevant structures.

As a result of measures to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, there were prevented transportation of 728.2 g drugs across the border.

In result of the measures taken in the fight against smuggling, smuggled goods were seized with a total cost of approximately 230,571 manat, including 1 radio receiver, 21,400 Azerbaijani manats, 7,000 US dollars, 1093 grams of jewelry, 3 boats, 10 kg of synthetic caviar, 6100 meters of grid, 4360 boxes of pyrotechnics, and 268 mobile telephones and other industrial and food products.
