Operation Border-Shield

In the areas on the border of Azerbaijan with Russia, Operation Border-Shield began.

According to APA, large-scale operations are conducted by law enforcement bodies in the northern regions of the country. Police posts are estblished at the entrances to the districts. Operations will continue until June 4, 2015.

The operation is conducted on the basis of an agreement reached between the Russian and Azerbaijani sides. The main purpose of conducting operations is to carry out complex organizational and practical measures to neutralize transnational organized criminal groups and members of terrorist organizations, to establish and suppress channels for the receipt of weapons, explosives and devices, narcotic drugs, as well as financial and material means aimed at carrying out other illegal actions.
