Detained one of the leaders of drug couriers

Employees of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan carried out an operation to catch people who illegally store firearms and are involved in drug trafficking, reports the information Internet portal oxu.az.

One of those controlling the smuggling of drugs into the country, a resident of the Balakan region, previously convicted Elshad Tosov, was detained, in whose bag seven bags of heroin with a total weight of 26 kg were found. E. Tosov admitted that he planned to sell the drug in Azerbaijan.

Subkhan Aslanov, who has a criminal record and is suspected of illegal possession of firearms, was detained in the Barda region. One Makarov pistol and six rounds of ammunition were found on him.

The employees of the department also managed to detain Elvin Mardanov, a resident of Baku. A whole arsenal was found in his house in the village of Buzovna – an AKS-74 assault rifle, a machine-gun belt, 233 cartridges of various calibers, F-1 and RDG-5 grenades and a fuse

His friend Huseyn Safarov, who was handing over ammunition, was also brought to the Main Directorate. A Makarov pistol, 16 rounds of ammunition and two magazines were found in his house in the capital.

Based on these facts, criminal cases have been initiated. With regard to the detainees, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen.

Operative measures are underway to identify their criminal ties.
