The term of detention was extended for the former head of the executive power of the Shamkir region

Preliminary investigation continues on the criminal case of the former head of the Executive Power (EP) of Shamkir district Alimpasha Mammadov, who was arrested during the operation of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, the Internet portal oxu.az reports.

The Sabail District Court considered the submission of the investigating authority to extend the preventive measure chosen against the accused. The court decided to extend the term of arrest for another three months.

On the basis of information about the commission of illegal actions by high-ranking officials of the Shamkir District Executive Power, related to the theft of state property and damage to the rights of citizens, the SSS officers carried out comprehensive operational and investigative measures.

During a search of the places of work and residence of A. Mammadov, lists of officials and businessmen from whom he took bribes, money, documents and other important material evidence were found and seized.

A. Mammadov was charged under Articles 179.4 (misappropriation or embezzlement), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of proceeds from crime), 308.2 (abuse of power), 311.3.2 and 311.3. size) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The criminal investigation is currently ongoing.
