More than 100 kilograms of drugs seized

Customs officers carried out two more successful operations to combat drug smuggling, APA reports quoting the State Customs Committee.

So, at the Julfa checkpoint on the state border, a customs inspection of a Mercedes-Benz car (76AAH601/76AAJ764), driven by a Turkish citizen, was carried out. During the inspection of a vehicle transporting decorative stones and bath accessories to Poland in transit through the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 102 kg 740 g of heroin were found in it.

Then, during the inspection at the same checkpoint of a Mercedes-Benz car (76AAH493/76AAK425), which was going to Poland in transit through the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the same cargo, driven by a Turkish citizen, 4 kg 230 g of heroin were found in the trailer of the vehicle .

On the above facts, a criminal case was initiated in the investigation department of the State Customs Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic under Article 206.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
