The arrested former head of the executive power appealed to the Supreme Court of the country

The former head of the Yevlakh District Executive Authority, Goja Samedov, who is in custody, filed a cassation appeal with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports citing his lawyer Elnur Veliyev.

The time of the meeting will be announced in the coming days.

G. Samedov was detained during a special operation of the State Security Service in December 2019 on charges of abuse of power, repeated receipt of large bribes and embezzlement.

The Sheki Grave Crimes Court sentenced him to 7 years and 3 months in prison. The defendant filed an appeal against the verdict. According to the decision of the Sheki Court of Appeal, the term of serving G. Samedov’s sentence was reduced to 6 years.
