More than 70 kg of drugs seized from members of organized criminal group

As a result of a special operation carried out by employees of the Main Department for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, four people were detained, who smuggled a large amount of drugs into the country and created a drug network here, oxu.az reports.

According to the press service of the department, 76 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as 965 tablets with a psychotropic composition, were seized from illegal circulation.

During the event, carried out in the Narimanov district of the capital, on the basis of operational information received, the previously convicted Nazim Zeynalov was detained, in whose house more than 66 kg of drugs were found, including 52 kg 708 g of heroin, 10 kg 212 g of methamphetamine, 2 kg 144 g of marijuana, 1 kg of opium, electronic scales, 450 methadone tablets and a notebook with notes on the sale of drugs.

In the course of carrying out additional operational activities, employees of the main department in the capital also detained other members of the drug network – Kamal Mammadov, Garaoghlan Suleymanov and Samir Rahimov. A total of 10 kg 128 g of heroin, methamphetamine, 515 ecstasy and methadone tablets, bank cards and electronic scales were confiscated from these persons.

It was established that the above persons are the main figures who organized the importation of narcotic drugs into the country by smuggling. They created an organized group of drug couriers who sold drugs both in Baku and in the regions of the country.

According to these facts, criminal cases were initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In relation to these persons, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen.
