Head of foreign company in Azerbaijan arrested

Criminal case has been initiated in Azerbaijan against a foreign citizen who is the head of a commercial company, APA reports citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Thus, grounds for suspicion were identified that the former director of the representative office of the transnational corporation THALES İNTERNATİONAL WESTERN COUNTRİES B.V. in the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahan Mehmet Mehmetali oglu in 2014-2021, by abuse of official powers, appropriated 8 million 860 thousand manats allocated for the representative office from the company’s head office to reimburse the costs of activities, and also committed an official forgery, deliberately indicating false information in official documents .
On the fact, a criminal case was initiated in the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General, Shahan Mehmet Mehmetali oglu was charged under Articles 179.4, 308.2 and 313 of the Criminal Code, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest against him.
Investigative activities in the criminal case are ongoing.
