Person charged with driving while intoxicated

The Sumgayit Court for Grave Crimes held a trial on the criminal case of Feyruz Agamaliyev, who is accused of a fatal car collision with a pedestrian in the Khachmaz region, oxu.az reports. The court sentenced him to 5 years and 6 months in prison.

By the decision of the court, the measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave, chosen in respect of the accused, was retained without change until the verdict enters into force. F. Agamaliyev will serve his sentence in a correctional facility of the precinct type.

According to the indictment, the head of the security department of the Khyzy district police department, police captain F. Agamaliyev, who was driving while intoxicated, violated traffic rules and fatally knocked down a pedestrian, after which he fled the scene.

The incident occurred on August 1, 2021 on the section of the Nabran-Khudat highway passing through the territory of the village of Nabran, Khachmaz region.

The investigating authority charged F. Agamaliyev under Articles 263-1.3 (violation of traffic rules or operation of vehicles by a person who is in a state of intoxication or does not have the right to drive a vehicle, resulting in the death of the victim through negligence) and 264 (leaving the scene of an accident) Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave was chosen against him.

At the trial, F. Agamaliyev partially admitted his guilt.
