Accused of stealing large amount of money from sister arrested in court

The trial on the case of Mahir Alizade, accused of theft, took place in the Baku Court for Grave Crimes, oxu.az reports.

At the meeting, chaired by Judge Telman Huseynov, the judgement was read, according to which M. Alizade was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of seven years.

A measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen against the accused, he was arrested in the courtroom.

According to the indictment, the theft took place in the Narimanov district of Baku on June 19, 2021.

M. Alizade’s half-sister Lyudmila was going to fly to Moscow. The man, under the pretense of helping her get to the airport, loaded the suitcases into the trunk of his car. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he stole 252,012 manats from a small bag that belonged to a woman.

L. Alizade appealed to law enforcement agencies in connection with the theft.

The investigating body charged M. Alizade under article 177.3.2 (theft committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
