Prosecutor demands severe punishment for armenian citizens accused of terrorism

On February 28, 2022, at a court session in the administrative building of the Sabunchi District Court in the criminal case of Armenian citizens accused of terrorism, the prosecutor demanded to sentence Sargsyan Ishkhan Ashoti to 20 years and Rafaelyan Vladimir Otari to 19 years in prison with a sentence in a strict regime prison, reports the information Internet portal report.az
According to the public prosecutor, after serving their sentence, Sargsyan and Rafaelyan should be deported from Azerbaijan.
The next court hearing is scheduled for March 7, 2022.
According to the indictment, on May 27, 2021, at about 3:00 am, the commander of the group of the military unit of the special forces of the intelligence of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Sargsyan Ishkhan Ashoti, and Vladimir Otari, who served as a military engineer Rafaelyan, illegally crossed the state border of Azerbaijan in the direction of the Kalbajar region, where units of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan were stationed, and carried out mining work on the roads passing through the village of Yukhari Airym.
These persons were arrested at the scene of the crime. 23 mines of the type “TM 62-M” and “E-00-M” were found and seized from them.
Armenian citizens are charged under Articles 214.2.3 (terrorism committed with the use of firearms and items used as weapons), 228 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their components, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices), 318 (illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and 282 (sabotage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
