The brother of the former deputy is suspected of embezzlement

One of the victims in the criminal case of Elshan Jabrayilov, the brother of the late ex-deputy Rafael Jabrayilov, is a participant in the second Karabakh war, oxu.az reports.

A first group disabled person, whose name was not disclosed, said that in 2018 he bought an apartment from one of the private companies. After some time, it turned out that it was resold to another person. According to the victim, the amount of damage caused to him as a result of fraud was 250,000 manats.

E. Jabrayilov was detained by officers of the Narimanov District Police Department on April 11, 2022 as a suspect based on a complaint from citizens. The latter claim that the apartments they bought from him were resold to other persons.

In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a submission was filed to the court for the election of a preventive measure against E. Jabrayilov.

At the meeting in the Narimanov District Court, it was not satisfied, and the suspect was released in the courtroom. However, the public prosecutor challenged this decision. The Baku Court of Appeal satisfied the protest of the prosecutor and adopted a decision on the election of a measure of restraint in respect of E. Jabrayilov in the form of detention for a period of one month. He was recognized as a witness in the criminal case of his late brother R. Jabrayilov.
