Execution of pardon order begins

Execution of the pardon order has begun, APA reports. The order “on the pardon of a number of convicted persons” signed by President Ilham Aliyev on May 27, 2022 applies to a total of 213 people.

167 people were released from serving the unserved part of the sentence, 1 person – from life imprisonment, the unserved part of the punishment of 36 people was reduced by half. Three people were released from conditional punishment, and 6 people – from serving a sentence in the form of restriction of freedom.

Among those pardoned are three journalists and bloggers, 3 members of political parties.

The pardon order also affected 20 people who participated in the riots in Ganja on July 10, 2018.
