Implementation of Social Reform Packages Continues Successfully

Over the past 4 years, Azerbaijan has implemented 3 main packages of social reforms, which covered more than 40% of the country’s population. The state allocated a total of 6 billion manats for the implementation of the measures envisaged by the packages. During this period, the minimum pension and the minimum wage more than doubled.
Day.Az reports with reference to Trend that according to the report of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the first package of social reforms adopted in 2018 covered 3 million people. As part of the reforms, salaries increased for 0.6 million, social benefits for 2.4 million citizens of the country. For these purposes, 1.9 billion manat was allocated from the state budget, of which 0.4 billion was allocated for raising salaries, and 1.5 billion manat for increasing social benefits.
The second social package covered 2019-2020 and 2.1 million people. As part of this package, 1.4 million people received increased salaries, and social benefits increased for 0.7 million citizens. The increase was achieved through financing in the amount of 2 billion manats, of which 1.6 and 0.4 billion manats, respectively, were allocated to increase wages and pensions.
The third package of social reforms, covering 2021-2022, brought joy to 3.4 million citizens of the country. Salaries of 1.1 million of them increased, and another 2.3 million people received increased social benefits. This time, deductions from the state budget also increased, amounting to 2.1 billion manats. Of this amount, 1.2 billion went to raise wages, 0.9 billion – social benefits.
Over four years, the level of the minimum wage has risen 2.3 times – from 130 in 2018 to 300 manats in 2022. The average salary has increased by 41 percent – from 545 to 768 manats, the median has risen by 85 percent – from 223 to 410 manats.
