Officials of the Shamkir Regional Department of Culture Arrested

Illegal actions of officials of the Shamkir Regional Department of Culture of the Ministry of Culture have been revealed, APA reports citing information released by the General Prosecutor’s Office.

As a result of urgent operational and search activities carried out on the basis of a citizen’s appeal in connection with the illegal actions of officials of the Shamkir Regional Department of Culture of the Ministry of Culture, the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.

As a result of operational-search activities, reasonable suspicions were established that the head of the Shamkir Regional Department of Culture, Rajabov Azer, as part of a group of persons by prior agreement with the acting head of the Personnel Department of the department, Alekper Aliyev, and consultant Safarov Seymur, in exchange for general patronage in the service in connection with with the performance of official duties, i.e. appointment of persons to positions, their tenure and continuation of their activities, non-interference in their activities, as well as non-exclusion of clubs, starting from December 2021, individuals received an amount of 102,000 manats as a bribe.

Azer Radjabov, Alekper Aliyev and Seymur Safarov were charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences), 311.3.1 (taking a bribe by a group of persons by prior agreement), 311.3.2 (repeating a bribe) and 311.3.3 ( accepting a bribe on a large scale) of the Criminal Code, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen by a court decision.

At present, the necessary investigative, operational-search measures are being continued to establish the circle of persons who have committed crimes and their other illegal actions.
