Police detained drug dealers
Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out an operation to capture persons illegally storing firearms and involved in drug trafficking, report.az news portal reports.
Ali Abbasli, Alekper Mammadov, Agil Garayev and Hamlet Veliyev were detained on suspicion of drug trafficking during the activities. In total, 23 kg of narcotic substances were seized from them, including heroin, marijuana and 1,590 methadone tablets. The detainees stated that they purchased drugs for the purpose of sale.
As part of another operation, Natig Safarov and Jeyhun Nuriyev were detained on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons, two sawn-off shotguns were confiscated from them.
In connection with the revealed facts, criminal cases were initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention in respect of the detainees.
Operative measures are underway to reveal the criminal ties of the arrested.
