Support for the families of martyrs and war veterans is the main activity of the ministry

State support for the families of martyrs, disabled people and war veterans is the main activity of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, trend.az reports with reference to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev.

The minister noted that the decisions being made are aimed at improving the social well-being of families of martyrs, disabled people and war veterans. The allowances, stipends and pensions paid to them have been seriously increased by more than 60 percent. The vast majority of payments are assigned in a proactive manner. Representatives of the State Social Protection Fund, the State Employment Agency visited many of them, assessed their financial situation and provided services related to social payments and employment. Doctors of the State Commission for Medical Examination visited more than 6,000 veterans in hospitals and at home and assessed their state of health.

He noted that over the past year and a half, 103,000 people from the categories of war veterans, war invalids and families of martyrs were provided with 190,000 services: “On average, more than 10,000 services were provided every month. Social payments are provided, which are approximately twice as high as for other categories of persons. About 6,000 of them are involved in the self-employment program, more than 5,000 are employed, 3,500 are provided with housing. All programs are ongoing. Extensive state care and support will continue”.
