Ombudsman receives head of ICRC office in Azerbaijan

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has received Arian Bauer, head of the Representative Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan, due to the expiration of her term, and the new head of the representative office, Dragana Kozic, for the purpose of acquaintance, APA reports citing the Ombudsman’s Office.

S. Aliyeva spoke about the work carried out by the ICRC in our country and the relationship between the Committee and the Office of the Ombudsman.

Referring to the fate of 3,890 Azerbaijanis who went missing during the First Karabakh War, the Ombudswoman stressed the need to intensify efforts to clarify the fate of these people in the post-war period.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for joint cooperation.

The Ombudsman thanked A. Bauer, wished her success in her future activities and congratulated the new representative D. Kozic on her appointment. In turn, the guests thanked the Ombudsman for the warm welcome. D. Kozic expressed hope for the successful development of cooperation with the Office of the Ombudsman.
