Decree of the President on providing the country with food wheat

On July 19, 2022, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on a number of measures to increase the level of self-sufficiency in food wheat, oxu.az reports. The text of the document is published on the website president.az.

The decree was signed in order to increase the country’s self-sufficiency in milling wheat by creating new regulatory mechanisms that allow mobilizing available resources, taking into account the processes taking place in the global food market, as well as organizing the production of milling wheat.

According to the document, as a pilot project at the initial stage, starting from 2023, for five years, a subsidy will be applied to food wheat produced by persons who, in accordance with an agreement concluded with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have committed themselves to the production of this type of product in farms with modern irrigation systems, and transferred to the State Reserves Agency and mills.
