Decree of the President on reforming science and education

By decree of the President of Azerbaijan, reforms have been launched both in the field of science and in the field of education, reports the online news portal report.az.

Both ANAS and the Ministry of Science and Education will now deal with the development of science in Azerbaijan. The reforms are important in terms of conducting scientific research, improving the quality of teaching, improving the performance of higher education institutions and integrating scientific achievements into the economy.

Although the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences, mainly related to technical and natural sciences, have been transferred to the Ministry of Science and Education, this does not mean that the Academy will be liquidated.

Humanitarian institutions remain on the balance sheet of ANAS. Ganja, Nakhchivan branches of ANAS, as well as Sheki and Lankaran scientific centers will continue their activities under the department of the Academy of Sciences.

The reduction of scientists, employees of scientific institutions is not expected, and the new status of the organization will be determined by its new charter. ANAS will hold elections of the president, full and corresponding members. The scientific institutes remaining on the balance sheet of ANAS and transferred to the Ministry of Science and Education will continue their work in the same order.
