Executive Director of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives appointed
An executive director has been appointed to the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, 1news.az reports with reference to AZERTAC. Samir Makhmudov was appointed to this position by the decision of the Supervisory Board of the Center.
S. Mahmudov was born in 1987. In 2009 he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Belarusian State University with a bachelor’s degree, and in 2013 – with a master’s degree in constitutional law. In 2015-2016, he continued his legal education at the Master’s Degree in the Law College of Syracuse University in the State of New York (USA).
Having completed active military service in 2011, S. Makhmudov began his labor activity in the prosecution authorities. In 2011-2013, he worked as an assistant prosecutor in the Nizami District Prosecutor’s Office, in 2013-2015 he served as a prosecutor and senior prosecutor in the Main Department for Combat to Corruption under the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan and, at the same time, was an expert in the field of combating corruption in the Economic Cooperation Organization and development (OECD) operating in Paris.
After returning from the United States, S. Makhmudov worked in OMNI law firm in 2016-2021, first as a lawyer, then as a senior lawyer, and later as a chief lawyer. From July 2021 until his appointment to a new post, he worked as a managing partner of the law firm BONAFİDE.
S. Makhmudov has been a member of the Azerbaijan Bar Association since 2018. He also teaches at the Department of Civil Law of BSU and at ADA University.
