Smuggling of a large consignment of drugs to Azerbaijan prevented
As part of ensuring reliable protection of the state border, combating smuggling and drug trafficking, employees of the State Border Service (SBS) prevented the smuggling of 26 kilograms of drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Trend.az reports citing the press center of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan.
According to the information, on October 2, 2022, at 03:14, on the official territory of the frontier post of the frontier detachment “Horadiz” of the State Border Service near the village of Bala Behmenli, Fuzuli region, signs of violation of the state border by Iran were detected. The frontier post was immediately raised on an alarm signal, the service area was blocked.
As a result of a search on the territory, two packages with narcotic substances weighing 17 kilograms 660 grams (13 kilograms 90 grams of heroin and 4 kilograms of methamphetamine) were found and seized.
On October 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., smuggling of drugs from Iran was stopped at the service area of the frontier post of the frontier detachment “Horadiz” of the State Border Service near the village of Gazakhlar, Beylagan region.
As a result of searches on the territory, a bundle with 8 kilograms 340 grams of the narcotic substance marijuana was found and seized.
On the facts, operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
