The trial of a number of former employees of the abolished Ministry of National Security is completed

The trial of the former head of the Main Department of Military Counterintelligence of the abolished Ministry of National Security (MNB) Nizami Shirinov, the heads of departments included in the structure, Eldzhan Abdullayev and Elman Takhirov, as well as detective Nadir Nazirov, has ended, APA reports.

At the trial in the Baku Military Court, chaired by Judge Jamal Ramazanov, a judgement was read, according to which Nizami Shirinov was sentenced to 8 years, Eldzhan Abdullayev – to 6 years, Nadir Nazirov – to 4 years. The criminal case against Elman Takhirov was terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

The judgement also noted that Nizami Shirinov’s arrested property in the amount of 180,000 manats would be confiscated.

Recall that N. Shirinov was charged under Art. 182.3.2 (extortion through threats, under aggravated circumstances), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of money or other property obtained by criminal means), 311.3.4 (aggravated bribery). Abdullayev, Takhirov and Nazirov were charged under Art. 341.2.3 (abuse of authority).
