Statement of the prosecutor’s office in connection with the murder of a servicewoman

On October 30, 2022, at around 19:00, the prosecutor’s office of the Goranboy region received information about the murder of Zahra Babayeva (born 1993) in a rented apartment, oxu.az reports.

During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that the husband of the victim, Babir Hasanly (born 1994), had inflicted numerous stab wounds to his wife during a conflict based on personal relationships.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under article 120.1 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. B. Hasanly was arrested as a suspect and brought to the investigation.

It is noted that B. Hasanli and Z. Babayeva were servicemen. They got married on October 9th. It is reported that Z. Babayeva was killed because of her unwillingness to live with her husband.
