Russian expert put on international wanted list
A citizen of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Alexandrov, has been put on the international wanted list, the report.az Internet news portal reports, citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.
On December 13, 2022, the leading expert of the Center for Military-Political Studies of the MGIMO RF, Doctor of Law Mikhail Alexandrov delivered an audio message to a wide audience. In an attempt to undermine relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, he openly called for “firing with rockets and completely destroying the entire oil industry and energy system of Azerbaijan.”
On December 19, 2022, the Prosecutor General initiated a criminal case against Mikhail Aleksandrov under Articles 101.2 (open calls to unleash a war of aggression through the media), 214.2.3 (threats to commit terrorist acts using firearms) and 283.2.1, 283.2. 2 (incitement of national hatred or enmity using one’s official position) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
In view of sufficient evidence, a decision was made against Mikhail Aleksandrov to bring him on trial under the indicated articles of the Criminal Code. By a court decision, he was put on the international wanted list through the channels of Interpol, with the election of a preventive measure in the form of arrest against him. At the same time, requests were sent to the competent authorities of a number of partner states in order to ensure the extradition of the accused if he enters the territory of these countries. Currently, intensive investigative activities are ongoing.
The General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan states that the measures provided for by law will be taken in connection with any provocative activity directed against the national interests, security and territorial integrity of our country.
