Azerbaijan approves working time norms and production calendar for 2023

By a resolution of the collegium of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan dated December 19, 2022, the norms of working hours and the production calendar for 2023 were approved, oxu.az reports citing the ministry.

According to the Labor Code and the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan “On determining the days of Novruz, Ramadan and Gurban holidays for 2023” dated December 9, 2022, non-working holidays next year:

January 1, 2 – New Year;

March 8 – International Women’s Day;

March 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 – Novruz holiday;

April 21, 22 – Ramadan holiday;

May 9 – Victory Day over fascism;

May 28 – Independence Day;

June 15 – National Salvation Day of the Azerbaijani people;

June 26 – Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

June 28, 29 – Gurban holiday;

November 8 – Victory Day;

November 9 – Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

December 31 is the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.

January 20 – Day of National Sorrow is also a non-working day.

Due to the fact that in 2023 the days off coincide with some non-working holidays, January 3 and 4, April 24, May 29 with a 5-day working week and January 3, March 25, May 29 with a 6-day working week are announced weekends.

February 2023 has 28 calendar days and a year has 365 calendar days.

With a 5-day working week in 2023, 240 days are working (of which 7 are working days before the holidays and before the Day of National Sorrow), 109 days off are non-working days (of which 4 coincide with non-working holidays), 19 holidays that are not working (4 of them coincide with weekends) and one is the Day of National Sorrow.

In Azerbaijan, normal working hours cannot exceed 8 hours per day (40 hours per week). As a rule, a 5-day work week is established with two days off. The annual norm of working time with a 40-hour working week for 2023 is 1,913 hours.
