Pawnshop owner sentenced for embezzlement

The Ganja Grave Crimes Court has completed a judicial investigation into the criminal case of Kazym Mammadov (name and surname conditional), accused of embezzlement of clients’ property, oxu.az reports. The court sentenced him to 4 years, 10 months and 9 days in prison. The accused will serve his sentence in a penal colony. The measure of restraint chosen against him in the form of police surveillance was replaced by arrest.

According to the materials of the case, Kazym Mammadov (born 1981), being the director of the pawnshop LLC Gold Kredit, embezzled gold and about 76,500 manats from his clients. About 40 citizens were recognized as victims in the case.

K. Mammadov, who was detained on the basis of complaints from the victims, was charged under Articles 179.3.2 (large-scale embezzlement) and 308.1 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of police supervision was chosen against him.
