Detained for spreading false information about an impending terrorist attack

The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan immediately carried out the necessary investigative and operational measures in connection with an audio recording about an impending terrorist attack in the Baku metro that has spread on social networks and caused serious concern among citizens, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on this fact, it was established that the audio recording belongs to an Azerbaijani citizen, Farid Butaev (born 2001), who distributed the relevant material through the WhatsApp application.

The man was detained and prosecuted as an accused under Article 216 (Knowingly false report of terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Once again, we warn that such actions aimed at creating panic among the population entail serious legal liability in accordance with the law.
