Arrested for kidnapping a minor child

In the Nasimi district of Baku, the young son of the owner of a cafe was kidnapped and demanded as a ransom of 200,000 manats, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.

Thus, the police received information that on March 25, 2023, at about 10:00 pm, a businessman was hit on the head with a metal crowbar, and then his young son was taken away, who was placed in the basement and tied to a chair there. Then the perpetrators, threatening physical violence, demanded 200,000 manats for the release of the child, but the father managed to negotiate with them for 20,000 manats.

As a result of operational-search activities carried out by officers of the 19th police department of the Nasimi district police department, Shahin Guliyev, a native of Jalilabad district and Gabala district, suspected of extortion, was detained.

On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 182 (extortion by threat) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an investigation is underway.
