Criminal case against an official of the Customs Committee sent to court

A preliminary investigation into the criminal case of Javid Mammadov, a former employee of the Shirvanly customs post of the Northern Territorial Main Customs Department, accused of taking a bribe, has been completed. Report informs that the case has been sent for consideration to the Baku Grave Crimes Court, and will be considered under the chairmanship of Judge Ahmed Guliyev. The date of the trial is not yet known.

It is noted that as a result of operational-search activities carried out by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General and the State Customs Committee, illegal actions of customs officers were revealed. Reasonable suspicions were established that Javid Mammadov, an employee of the Shirvanly customs post, received a bribe in exchange for a superficial check at the post. It was established that J. Mammadov repeatedly received bribes from citizens in exchange for assistance in the illegal movement of funds in the Russian Federation without declaring.

In fact, a criminal case was initiated in the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General under Articles 311.2 (receiving a bribe) and 311.3.2 (repeating a bribe) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen against J. Mammadov.
