Joint operation of the State Border Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs: smuggling of more than 100 kg of drugs was prevented

On June 18, 2023 at 02:10, as a result of joint operational and search activities carried out by employees of the State Border Service (SBS) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan, smuggling of a large consignment of narcotic drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran to our country was stopped, reports ozu.az with a link to the press center of the State Border Service.

During the events near the village of Khaladj, Beylagan region, a Chevrolet car was stopped. When the vehicle was examined, 102 kg of drugs and 1,200 M-40 methadone tablets were found in it. Residents of Ismayilli region Gorkhmaz Huseynov (born 1977) and Binagadi region of Baku Veli Rzayev (born 1995) were detained.

On June 18, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., as a result of operational-search activities at the border, carried out by employees of the Goytepe border detachment on the service territory of the outpost near the village of Sarkhanly, Jalilabad district, a package with 5.3 kg of marijuana was found in the bushes.

Based on these facts, operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
