With corruption must be fought!

The Ukrainian businessmen and officials traveled to Georgia to learn a secret of reforms undertaken in the state. Andrew Anastasov personally convinced that is not worth trying to bribe the Georgian traffic policeman and to pay him “in private”.

Georgia is a country that is gradually forgotten words such as “corruption”, “bureaucracy” and “bribe”.

Andrew Anastasov, a correspondent:

– Employees of the traffic police which do not take bribes, government officials, who can issue any certificate in a few minutes without compensation and all these, are not an empty declaration but it really works! And this is probably the main miracle of Georgian reforms.

Across Georgia are now opening the Houses of Justice: in one building are contained all offices, bureaus, authorization centers and most of the documents are into electronic format. As result, the drawing up of two hundred kinds of documents from a passport to a permit to opening own business takes a few minutes. The woman is prepared the sale of land.

Eka Gogolauri, the visitor center:

– Previously, it required more time: it awaited like to say a lot of people, and now it takes ten minutes and we would complete this whole process.

The same is in Customs where the goods drawn up for ten minutes and also in the structures of the Interior Ministry. Ukrainian motorists are surprised to know of how long one can get a car registration number.

What is the secret of reforms? It says in the Ministry of Justice. First, using the world experience, we have radically changed the legislation in all areas, and second, have toughened penalties for corruption.

George Vashadze, Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia:

– We have completely changed the whole mentality and psychology! It is not even called reforms – we have just wiped the bureaucracy which we had!

The Ukrainian officials and businessmen are affected by seen. They say that skepticism which was in the beginning of a trip considerably reduced.

Vasily Jeremiah, Ukrainian businessman:

– One can say that this is a kind of master class for our business, what it could be another way and that it is something to be changed our country.
